Title: Relic of my Childhood

I think Hambly made this elephant paper just for me :D Quite some time ago, this page has been planned out in my head, yet no elephant paper existed at the time. I waited patiently, to gather the right embellishments, and today it finally (!) came together. I'm so happy I found the hand-carved wood button @ JoAnn's, and the real-life clock button was from there too (I just snipped the button eye off). The Sassafras Lass paper is actually a postcard size advertisement that was in a scrap magazine, I just cut out the image. Another cool technique is that I rusted the metal letters with Ranger Distress embossing powder (color:Vintage photo). After embossing, I rubbed copper metal 3D paint. The resulting weathered texture is just as that of the elephant slide pictured.
So what is this page about? It's about an elephant slide in the daycare play yard where I grew up in Kaunas, Lithuania. If I close my eyes, I can actually picture going up the ladder and sliding down. Such fun times playing with my girlfriends hide-and-seek. I've lived in the USA for 23 yrs. now, and at times it feels like my childhood is a blur of a dream. When I've traveled back to my home town, I take a photo of this elephant slide. It has gotten a few make-overs, but its presence is a tangible reminder that I lived and played there...this elephant feels like "home", and standing next to it I get an eerie feeling, and a shock of how fast the time goes by.
