Title: To be a Mother
This page came about serendipitously. I was working on a "Mother's Day" theme page for the Hero Arts prompt, and while web-surfing on scrapbooking challenge sites, I found the perfect quote at The Creative Type by one of the design team typists Judean. She also used this quote on her amazing layout:
"Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother."- Lin Yutang
Loved this quote so much, as it perfectly speaks of my greatest joy and accomplishment in life - to be a mother.
I've used the Circle Lace wood-mounted stamp By Hero Arts on the bottom of the page. I stamped with acrylic pint using a foam brush to apply a thin layer of paint on the stamp surface (making sure to wash the stamp quickly as the acrylic paint dries quickly and may ruin the stamp). The large lace pattern on the top of the page is achieved by temporarily adhering a doily and using a stiff stippling brush dipped in acrylic paint. The doily here acts as a mask. The page is also sprayed with a white Glimmer Mist (By Tattered Angels). I thought the mist will be more opaque, but the effect was more of a transparent sugar-coated veil of shimmer. The blue flower was accented with glitter using Stickles by Ranger Industries. The pink flowers I made myself using a small flower punch and pearl flower stems from a florist supplier. The white plaster flower detail was antiqued with gold mettalic rub-on cream paints that I applied with my fingers.
The vintage photo frames are digital. After I printed the photo with this effect, I cut away the white portions of the photo paper background (because the frames are at an angle, it does not print as a perfect photo rectangle). I distressed the photo edges with an edge distresser.
Thanks for looking at my Shabby Chick creation!
