Pencil Lines Sketch #165 "Uproot Yourself"

Title: Uproot Yourself

(Image from Pencil Lines sketch site)
For this current sketch #165 over at Pencil Lines, I borrowed the 3 photo blocks, however using only one photo and the rest patterned paper scraps laying around my desk (the b/w woodgrain print is actually an envelope from a bill, ant the center one with seal print is actually packaging from the quill/ink set I used to write around the perimeter of the paper).
I also followed the placement of the title on this sketch.

The topic of this page was inspired by the "ABC's of ME Art Journal Prompt" over at A Year in the Life of an Art Journal blog. I chose the focus to be on reflecting on how far I have come in my artwork, and also on setting new scrapping goals for myself for the upcoming year. The journaling is a pep-talk to myself, in order to keep my priorities straight.
This page is a call for an internal revolution in regards to the way I scrap. I've come to the realization that my perfectionistic, nit-picking-my-own-work tendencies are holding me back artistically, not to mention, make the creation process the speed of a turtle.

Photo: is an autoportrait taken on self-timer mode. In the photo I'm wearing a "necklace" made out of grass roots tied together with a string.
Journaling reads:
(journaling was hand-written with a quill and ink set (as pictured from Barnes & Noble site).
Get over yourself girl! Redefine what scrap booking is to you. Quit trying to make every page into a masterpiece! Drop the perfecting, the obsessing, the worrying that "this" page will be the one that will prove to you and others, that you can't scrap jack shit. Stop yourself when you get the urge "to make pretty." Being real to yourself, and true to the situation, is where the beauty lies. Remember those two pages at the scrap gallery. What haunts you to this day is the raw emotion of these stories--the embellishments, you don't recall. Because, in the end, it's all about the story and the element of human connection.... .... and much more stream-of-consciuosness bla bla bla. And true to my goal, I did manage to make this layout in an hour :)

For my lithuanian-speaking friends - a translation that might make more sense than google ;)
Nuotrauka- autoportretas;
Šis skrebas įrodo kad nereikia turėti kalną skrebo priemoniį skrebinti, kadangi visi popieriukai buvo "šiukšlytės" surinktos nuo darbastalio (medienos raštas juodas= voko vidus, žalias tekstas=likutis nuo pastarojo skrebo, laiškų gelsvas popierius= pakuotė nuo to pačio plunksnakočio ir rašalo rinkinuko kurį panaudojau aprašyti aplink lapo kraštus).
Dėkui už dėmesį ;)

Ačiū už gražų rytą, kurį pradėjau su tavuoju darbeliu. Ir vėl jis man labai patiko - labai labai.
