My take on the Random Inspiration Challenge #5: Punches

Title: Flutter

This page was done for my blog's Random Inspiration Challenge #5: Punches, as well as Hero Arts blog contest for summer pages. The cheerful colors I chose are what speaks summer to me.

I've used quite a few punches here beside the obvious big circle punches. The photo border scallops were done with a Fiskars border punch, and the bottom eyelet lace pattern was done with a Quickutz 2"x2" die, and then pieced together.

Here is a close-up to show the detail shading of the Daisy stamp by Hero Arts. I stamped with StazOn Ink, so that it would not smudge, and I was able to immediately begin coloring with my Berol Prismacolor colored pencils. Then, I curled the petals up and popped it on a 3D glue dot for extra depth.

The embossed dotted paper was run through a Cuttlebug embossing folder and the Quickutz Epic Six. I lifted the embossed circles on foam pillows to give it more depth, but kept it the same tone-on-tone kraft color to still provide that corner with white space.

The orange button is a new one from Jenni Bowlin's new vintage collection (an oxymoron--'new vintage' :D).

The outline on the clear acrylic butterfly was done using a permanent sharpie marker.

The buttons I sewed on using only one continuous thread. Also a detail shot of the Quickutz die cut eye-lace that I pieced together on the bottom.

Journaling reads: Delicate baby parts; Soft pudgy cheeks, delightful smiles, and the comfort of a thumb. Like a gentle flutter of eyelashes, childhood is fleeting. (Adam, May 18, 2008)
